Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are not off in some distant place, hard to reach — You are close, and You already know everything about me.

When I look with clear eyes, I find You right here in front of me, and deeper still, living inside my own heart.

The One is never actually far — it is right here, and deeper still, within.
The deeper layer

This verse says the One is never far away.

Toon naahee prabh door jaaneh sabh too hai: You are not far, my God. You know everything.

Gurmukh vaykh hadoor antar bhee too hai: the gurmukh sees You hadoor, right here, and You are inside too. A gurmukh is someone whose face is turned toward the Guru.

Think of a parent in the next room while you do homework. You can't see them, but you know they are close, and that changes how the whole house feels. Knowing the One is near is the answer to every feeling of being alone.

A Question to Sit With

When do you feel closest to something greater than yourself?
