Wow. When something takes my breath away, that "wow" is already praise — awe rising up on its own.
The One I turn that wonder toward is forever true and completely carefree, needing nothing and worrying about nothing. Keeping that in mind, I can praise from a place that never runs dry.
Wow! That gasp of wonder is already praise.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. The whole shabad turns on it. Vaahu mayray saahibaa vaahu — wow, my Master, wow! Vaahu is the sound of awe. It is the same wonder that lives inside the name Waheguru. Think of seeing a huge rainbow, or the night sky far from city lights. The "wow" just comes out. That is praise.
Gurmukh sadaa salaahee-ai sachaa vayparvaahu — turned toward the Guru, praise the True One always. A gurmukh is someone turned toward the Guru. The One is vayparvaahu: carefree, needing nothing, worrying about nothing.
When was the last time something made you say "wow" without meaning to?
