Verse 19 of 35

Only What's Real Stays

sachaa saahu sachay vanjaaray othai koorhay naa tikann.
True is the Banker, and True are His traders. The false ones cannot remain there.
onaa sach na bhaav-ee dukh hee maahi pachann. ||18||
They do not love the Truth - they are consumed by their pain. ||18||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

True is the Banker — the One who keeps life's great marketplace — and true are the traders; the false cannot stay there.

They do not love the Truth, so they are eaten up by their own pain.

Only the true can stay in the True One's market.
The deeper layer

sachaa saahu sachay vanjaaray — the True Banker and the true traders; othai koorhay naa tikann — the false (koorh) cannot hold their place. A marketplace metaphor: only what is true is accepted as good currency.

A Question to Sit With

What's something "fake" that looks valuable but doesn't last?
