In plain words

The One I love is joyful and playful, and colors my heart with love in the most natural, easy way — no forcing.

That color only really takes when I let myself rest fully in that closeness — then the love soaks right through, deep and bright.

Love colors you deepest when you rest fully in it.
The deeper layer

The One is playful, and colors the heart with love in the most natural way.

Here the soul is pictured as a bride, and the One as her beloved. So saho mayraa rangulaa — my Beloved is full of color and joy. Rangay sahj subhaa-ay — He colors me with love, in sahj, natural ease. Nothing is forced.

Kaaman rang taa charhai — the bride's color really takes hold jaa pir kai ank samaa-ay, when she rests fully in her Beloved's closeness. Think of a tea bag in hot water. Dip it in quickly, and the water barely changes. Let it rest there, and the color goes deep and rich.

A Question to Sit With
