In plain words

The helping that really counts is the kind the One welcomes. It is not done for show; it comes from a true heart.

I turn my whole attention toward the One and rest it at the Guru's feet. There my caring finds its real home and does real good.

The service that matters flows from a true heart, not from show.
The deeper layer

The helping that counts is the kind that comes from love, not the kind done for show.

Sayvaa saa prabh bhaavsee — the seva, the service, that pleases the One. Jo prabh paa-ay thaa-ay — is the service the One welcomes and accepts.

Think of two kids helping clear the table. One does it only while grown-ups are watching. The other does it because they love their family. Both carry plates, but only one is really giving.

Jan naanak har aaraaDhi-aa — Nanak, the Guru's servant, adores the One. Gur charnee chit laa-ay — he rests his mind at the Guru's feet. Service rooted in love is the service that truly lands.

A Question to Sit With

What's a way you could help someone with no one watching?
