Verse 31 of 33

Night and Day, One Cherishing

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈ ॥੩੦॥
rain dinas gur charan araaDhee da-i-aa karahu mayray saa-ee. ||30||
Night and day, I worship the Guru's Feet in adoration; have Mercy upon me, O my Lord and Master. ||30||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Night and day, I hold the teaching close in my heart, returning to it like something precious.

And I ask, softly: be kind to me. It's the simple asking of someone who just wants to stay near what they love.

Cherishing what you love and asking for kindness is a whole prayer.
The deeper layer

rain dinas gur charan araadhee, da-i-aa karahu mayray saa-ee — night and day I cherish the teaching and ask for kindness (da-i-aa) from my Master (saa-ee). A soft, steady leaning on grace.

A Question to Sit With

What's something you return to every day because it steadies you?
