In plain words

I am not letting go of the One I love — I want to stay right by that side, no matter what.

My Beloved is always beautiful, always warm, always there. That steadiness is what I lean my whole hope on.

I lean my whole hope on the One who is always there.
The deeper layer

This is the heart of the shabad: I am not letting go of the One I love.

This line is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the whole shabad. Ha-o naa chhoda-o kant paasraa means "I will not leave my Beloved's side." Kant is the Beloved. Paasraa is the side, right next to someone.

Sadaa rangeelaa laal pi-aaraa ayhu mahinjaa aasraa means "my dear Beloved, always full of joy, is my support." Aasraa is something you lean on. Think of a little kid holding a parent's hand in a busy street, gripping tight. The whole line is a promise to stay close.

A Question to Sit With

What is something, or someone, you have decided you will never let go of?
