The Heart Touched by Mercy Sings

kirpaa karay jis paraanpat daataa so-ee sant gun gaavai.
That Saint, unto whom the Lord of Life, the Great Giver, extends His Mercy - he alone sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
paraym bhagat taa kaa man leenaa paarbarahm man bhaavai. ||2||
His soul is absorbed in loving devotional worship; his mind is pleasing to the Supreme Lord God. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The heart that mercy has gently touched is the one that naturally sings.

Such a heart sinks happily into love, and rests easy with the One.

Real praise wells up on its own once the heart has been touched.
The deeper layer

kripaa kare jis praanpat — the Lord of life extends grace; prem bhagat taa kaa man leenaa — the mind absorbed in loving devotion. Singing is grace received, not effort.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt so grateful that you just had to say or sing something?
