Verse 2 of 3

The One Who Keeps No Ledger

santahu parabh mayraa sadaa da-i-aalaa.
O Saints, my God is forever merciful.
apnay bhagat kee ganat na gan-ee raakhai baal gupaalaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Lord of the world does not call His devotee to account; He protects His children. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Listen, friends: the One who holds us is always kind, always gentle.

It keeps no list of my mistakes to hold against me — it simply looks after me the way a parent looks after a small child.

You are cared for, not counted.
The deeper layer

ganat na gan-ee — keeps no accounting or tally; raakhai baal gupaalaa — the Lord of the world protects His children. This is the Rahau, the heart of the shabad: grace is not a scorecard, but care that does not tally faults.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to know your worth isn't a scorecard of mistakes?
