Live What Is True and the Name Becomes Your Wealth

har jan saachay saach kamaaveh gur kai sabad veechaaree.
The Lord's humble servants are True - they practice Truth, and reflect upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
aapay mayl la-ay parabh saachai saach rakhi-aa ur Dhaaree.
The True Lord God unites them with Himself, and they keep the True Lord enshrined in their hearts.
naanak naavhu gat mat paa-ee ayhaa raas hamaaree. ||4||1||
O Nanak, through the Name, I have obtained salvation and understanding; this alone is my wealth. ||4||1||

In plain words

The One's people live what is true, and they practice truth, reflecting on the words of the teaching.

The true One draws them close on its own and keeps them held, truth safe in the heart.

Nanak says: through the Name I found freedom and understanding — and honestly, that is my whole wealth.

Live what is true, and the Name itself becomes your whole wealth.
The deeper layer

The close is quietly radiant. Har jan saachay saach kamaaveh — "the One's people are true, and they practice truth" — this is sach not as belief but as lived reality: living truly, not just thinking true things. Aapay mayl la-ay — "the One unites them of its own accord" — grace as initiative, not reward. And the last line is Guru Amar Das's contentment note, pure Sorath: ayhaa raas hamaaree — "this alone is my wealth" — the Name is riches enough. A whole life summed up as one treasure freely given.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you value so much that it feels like real riches to you?
