You are the ground I stand on, strong enough to hold anything, and I turn to You all through the day and night.
Whoever leans on You is not eaten up by worry — their fear quiets, and their heart begins to sing.
This is the pause line, the rahaa-o. It is the center of the whole shabad, the line everything else turns around. It says: You hold me up, so I do not need to worry.
Prabh jee tayree ot gusaa-ee means dear One, Lord of the world, You are my support. Too samrath saran kaa daataa: You are all-powerful, the Giver of shelter. Picture a big, strong tree in a rainstorm. Stand under it, and the rain can't reach you.
Aath pahar, all eight watches of the day, is the old way of saying all day and all night. That is how long I keep You in mind. And the one who leans on You has andaysaa naahee, no worry at all. Leaning on the One makes worry melt away.
What is your steadiest support when worry starts to pile up?
