Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and meditate in remembrance on the Lord; even a sinner like yourself will become pure.

Death is on the prowl, with its mouth wide open, friend. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Sit with good and kind people, keep the One in mind, and even a heart that felt heavy grows clean and light again.

Our time here is short and precious, friend — so it is worth spending well.

Good company can make a heavy heart light again.
The deeper layer

kar saadhsangat simar maadho — join the holy company and remember; patit puneet — the fallen made pure, rendered here as a heavy heart made light. The image of death on the prowl is softened to time being short and precious — memento mori as calm perspective, never dread.

A Question to Sit With

Who helps you feel lighter and more like your best self?
