The Secret Hidden Inside

mad maa-i-aa kai bha-i-o baavro soojhat nah kachh gi-aanaa.
He has gone insane with the wine of Maya, and does not understand even a bit of spiritual wisdom.
Deep within his heart, the Immaculate Lord dwells, but he does not know this secret. ||2||

In plain words

It's easy to get dizzy chasing shiny things and miss what really matters.

All the while, the pure One is living quietly inside you — that's the secret worth discovering.

The best secret is the One living quietly inside you.
The deeper layer

This one says: the treasure you're looking for is already inside you.

Mad maa-i-aa kai bha-i-o baavro: a person gets dizzy on maa-i-aa. Maa-i-aa means the glitter of things, all the shiny stuff that pulls at us. Dizzy like that, they can't see even a little wisdom.

Yet ghat hee bheetar basat niranjan: the pure One lives right inside the heart. Niranjan means spotless and pure. And taa ko maram na jaanaa: they don't know this secret.

There is an old story about the musk deer. It smells a lovely scent and runs all over the forest looking for it. It never learns that the scent comes from its own body. We are often like that deer.

A Question to Sit With

What is something important that's easy to overlook because it's so close?
