ਸੁਖ ਮੈ ਆਨਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੈਠਤ ਰਹਤ ਚਹੂ ਦਿਸਿ ਘੇਰੈ ॥
sukh mai aan bahut mil baithat rahat chahoo dis ghayrai.
In good times, many come and sit together, surrounding you on all four sides.

But when hard times come, they all leave, and no one comes near you. ||1||

When everything is going well, people gather round on every side, happy to share the sunshine.
But when a storm rolls in, that same crowd can quietly slip away, and you look up to find the space beside you empty.
This is not a reason to stop loving people, it is a reason to also hold onto the One who stays through storms.
A fair-weather crowd fills good days; a true refuge fills the hard ones.
sukh mai aan bahut mil baithat — in comfort many gather; bipat paree sabh hee sang chhaadit — in calamity all abandon. The fair-weather crowd, seen plainly. The point is comparative, not bitter: set beside human company that comes and goes, the steadiness of the One shines out.
A Question to Sit With
Who has stayed beside you on a hard day?
