Those who hold the Name are the ones already colored by love for the One.
They rest their whole attention on the One, the single reality that is true.
One presence runs through everything; one source brought the whole universe into being.
Those who keep the Name in mind cast their fears out the door.
The One itself gives this gift through the Guru's teaching, and the one turned toward the Guru remembers.
One presence runs through everything, and holding the Naam sends fear out the door.
Guru Ram Das sings almost a hymn to Oneness itself: har ik... iko har sati-aa... har iko vartai... iko utpati-aa — one to meditate on, one that is true, one pervading all, one that created everything. This is Ik Onkar: oneness as the only reality, present in and as everything. The practical fruit is freedom from fear: tin dar sat ghati-aa, those who hold the Name 'cast out their fears,' because there is no separate 'other' left to be afraid of. And the whole thing is received, not achieved — gurmatee dayvai aap, the One gives it through the teaching.
How might the world feel different if you saw everything as connected?
