Serve the pure One, and hold the Name gently in your thoughts.
Sit with people who love the truth, and let yourself dissolve into that Name.
Serving you is a great and beautiful thing — and I come to it with empty hands, still learning, still asking to be shown.
Let me belong to this fully; guide me, and I will follow the way the teaching points.
This Pauri (Guru Ram Das) is a prayer of glad surrender. har tayree vadee kaar — how glorious it is to serve. The line mai moorakh laa-ee-ai literally calls the speaker a fool; following the guidelines, we render self-abasement as empty-handedness before grace — not 'I am worthless' but 'I come with nothing to offer except my willingness.' satsangat saaDhoo lag — the company of truth-lovers is where the Name takes hold. The Pauri models the posture the whole Vaar recommends: ask to be shown, then walk it.
What is something you would rather learn by doing than pretend you already know?
