The true teacher has built a whole village for us to belong to, and set kind guardians all around it to keep it safe.
When my heart fell in love with that teaching, everything I truly hoped for came to pass.
The guide's kindness has no limit — every one of my old faults was gently wiped away.
Grace was poured over me, and I was made to feel completely welcome, completely at home.
I would give anything for a guide with so many good gifts to give.
The twenty-seventh Pauree gives the Vaar its picture of belonging: gur sachai badhaa thehu — the true Guru has "established a village," complete with rakhvaalay (protectors). After so many stanzas about scattered, restless, homeless hearts, this is the answer — a settled place where one is safe and welcome. It is the Vaar's deep movement from scattering toward sacred belonging made concrete. Apnay kar litay — "made me His own" — is the emotional heart: to be claimed, wanted, brought inside. Forgiveness (avgun sabh hatay) is total and freely given.
Where do you feel most safe and most like you belong? What makes a place feel like a real home?
