Sikhism·Raag Sorath·Shabad 155
Verse 2 of 5

As I Watch, the Passing World Fades

ਅਬ ਕਿਆ ਕਥੀਐ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
ab ki-aa kathee-ai gi-aan beechaaraa.
So now, what sort wisdom should I contemplate and preach?
ਨਿਜ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਗਤ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nij nirkhat gat bi-uhaaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
As I watch, worldly things dissipate. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

So what grand wisdom is left for me to explain to anyone?

Because as I quietly watch, all the busy, worldly things I once chased are gently thinning out and fading on their own.

Watched quietly and clearly, the world's tight grip loosens on its own.
The deeper layer

This is the rahaao. nij nirkhat gat bi-uhaaraa (as I watch, worldly dealings dissolve) describes a shift from doing to seeing: the world's grip loosens not by fighting it but by clear, quiet attention. Kabir wonders what teaching remains to give when reality is simply becoming plain.

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed that some worries shrink just from calmly looking straight at them?
