Says Ravi Daas, enshrine the Lord's Light within your heart, and your fear of birth and death shall run away from you. ||3||4||

In plain words

Deeply blessed are those who rest in natural, effortless peace, free of all their old tangles, their love quietly fixed on the One.

Says Ravidas, cradle that Light within your heart, and the old fear of birth and death simply gets up and walks away.

Hold the Light in your heart, and fear finds no place to stand.
The deeper layer

When the Light lives in your heart, even the fear of death loses its grip.

Sahj samaaDh means resting in effortless peace. SamaaDh is a deep, quiet stillness, and sahj means it comes naturally, without forcing. Ravidas calls the people who rest there very fortunate. They are free of their old tangles, and their love stays fixed on the One.

Then comes the promise. Pargaas ridai Dhar — hold the Light in your heart. Then janam maran bhai bhaagee — the fear of birth and death runs away.

Notice that the fear is not fought. It simply loses its footing. Think of a dark room when someone switches on the lamp. You don't chase the darkness out. It is just gone. Where love has taken root, fear has nowhere to stand.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that makes your fears feel small and far away?
