Joined to You, Loosed From All Else

ਸਾਚੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਸਿਉ ਜੋਰੀ ॥
saachee pareet ham tum si-o joree.
I am joined in true love with You, Lord.

tum si-o jor avar sang toree. ||3||
I am joined with You, and I have broken with all others. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have tied a true and lasting love with You, Beloved.

And having joined my heart to You, I have gently let go of every lesser attachment that used to pull me this way and that.

When your heart finds its true center, lesser pulls loosen by themselves.
The deeper layer

Saachee preet (true love) reorders everything. When the heart finds its real center, the many scattered clingings loosen on their own, not through force, but because they are no longer needed. Love does the letting-go for us.

A Question to Sit With

When you truly love something good, what smaller wants fade away on their own?
