No Awl, No Knife in My Hand

ਆਰ ਨਹੀ ਜਿਹ ਤੋਪਉ ॥

I have no awl to stitch them;
ਨਹੀ ਰਾਂਬੀ ਠਾਉ ਰੋਪਉ ॥੧॥

I have no knife to patch them. ||1||

In plain words

I have no awl left to punch the holes and stitch,

and no blade to cut and patch the leather.

Not every tear needs fixing, some worries you can simply put down.
The deeper layer

This one lists the tools Ravidas no longer has, with a wink.

Aar nahee jih topa-o — I have no aar, the pointed awl for punching stitch holes. And he has no knife for cutting patches either.

The tools stand for anxious fixing. They are how we keep trying to patch every little tear in the world. Ravidas has set them down, and he doesn't mind. Think of a kid who finally puts down the eraser after rubbing at one drawing all afternoon. Suddenly there's time to play.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small worry you could gently set aside today?
