Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Everything is Yours — You know every heart from the inside, the One behind us all.
Only the one You give to receives; there truly is no other giver anywhere.
Everything belongs to the One, and every good thing we have is a gift.
Sabh kichh tayraa too antarjaamee — "everything is Yours; You are the Inner-Knower." Antarjaamee means the One who knows every heart from the inside. Think of a mother who can tell how your day went just from the way you walk through the door. The One knows each of us even more closely than that.
Jis no daat karahi so paa-ay — whoever You give to receives. A daat is a gift. Jan naanak avar na ko-ee — Guru Ram Das, signing with the name Nanak, says there is no one else. This last line brings the whole five-verse hymn home to where Guru Nanak's teaching begins: Ik Onkar, One Creator of all. All is the One's, and all is gift.
If everything you have is a gift, how does that change how you hold it?
