The One Who Made You Is Caring for You Right Now

maaDho ham aisay too aisaa.
O Lord, this is what we are, and this is what You are.
ham paapee tum paap khandan neeko thaakur daysaa. rahaa-o.
We are sinners, and You are the Destroyer of sins. Your abode is so beautiful, O Lord and Master. ||Pause||
tum sabh saajay saaj nivaajay jee-o pind day paraanaa.
You fashion all, and having fashioned them, You bless them. You bestow upon them soul, body and the breath of life.
nirgunee-aaray gun nahee ko-ee tum daan dayh miharvaanaa. ||2||
We are worthless - we have no virtue at all; please, bless us with Your gift, O Merciful Lordand Master. ||2||

In plain words

This is who I am, and this is who You are: whatever I have gotten wrong, You are the One who lifts it right off me. Your home is a beautiful place.

You shaped everyone, and after shaping us You keep on blessing us — giving body, breath, and life itself. So I ask simply: keep being kind to me, Merciful One.

The One who made you is still, right now, taking care of you.
The deeper layer

The Pause line — maadho ham aisay too aisaa — is the hinge of the whole song: "this is what we are, and this is what You are." It sets our smallness and the One's greatness side by side, not to shame us but to rest us. Paap khandan is often translated "Destroyer of sins"; more gently, the One who breaks apart whatever weighs on us. Having fashioned every being, the One does not walk away — it keeps giving soul, body, and the breath of life.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing you have been given today that you did nothing to earn?
