I sing the praise of the One who holds every good thing. The teaching cleared away my confusion.
The One lives in all and is present everywhere. Yet the One is never tangled or stained by any of it.
The One is inside everything, yet nothing can stain or trap the One.
Nanak sings the praise of the One, the treasure of every good quality. The true Guru cleared away his bharam, his doubt and confusion.
Then comes a careful balance. Sarab nivaasee sadaa alaypaa — the One lives in all, and is always alaypaa. That word means untouched, unstained.
Think of sunlight shining into a muddy puddle. It lights up the puddle completely. Yet the sunlight does not get muddy. The One is fully in the world like that, and never trapped or dirtied by it. Fully present, and fully free, at the same time.
Can you be deeply involved in something and still stay calm and free inside it?
