ਅਪੁਨੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਨਾਵਹੁ ॥
apunee biDh aap janaavhu.
You alone teach me Your Ways.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har jan mangal gaavhu. ||1|| rahaa-o.
With the Lord's humble servants, I sing His Praises. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Show me Your own way, in Your own time.
Among people who love You, I get to sing — and joy rises up in the singing.
You do not have to force the change — stay open, and keep good company.
The Pause hands the whole thing over: apunee bidh aap janaavhu — teach me Your way Yourself; I cannot force the understanding, only stay open to it. And where does that openness get practiced? Har jan mangal gaavhu — singing joyfully among those who love the One. The transformation asked for in the verses is not a solo project of willpower; it grows in glad company and in a patience that lets the teaching arrive.
