Your Word is eternal, O Guru Nanak; You placed Your Hand of blessing upon my forehead. ||2||21||49||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One has set right both this life and whatever comes after, and never weighed my good against my bad.

Your word stands forever, and You laid Your hand of blessing right on my forehead.

Grace blesses you without first weighing your good against your bad.
The deeper layer

Halat palat dovai savaaray — both here and hereafter set in order. Gun avgun na beechaari-aa — He did not weigh merits against demerits; grace does not audit. Atal bachan, the unshakable word; saphal mastak dhaari-aa, the fruitful hand laid on the brow, a gesture of blessing.

A Question to Sit With

How is being blessed different from being graded?
