Verse 3 of 5

The Path of the Good-Hearted Is a Ladder of Right Living

The way of the Saints is the ladder of righteous living, found only by great good fortune.
The sins of millions of incarnations are washed away, by focusing your consciousness on the Lord's feet. ||2||

In plain words

The way good-hearted people walk is like a ladder built of doing right, and it is a lucky heart that finds it.

When you rest your attention at the One's feet, even old, deep-set mistakes lose their grip on you.

Goodness is built one honest step at a time, like climbing a ladder.
The deeper layer

The way of good people is like a ladder, and each step is doing what is right.

Sant kaa maarag dharam kee pa-orhee — the path of the saints is the ladder of dharam, right living. You climb a ladder one rung at a time. You do not jump to the top. Every kind choice, every honest word, is one more step.

Ko vadbhaagee paa-ay — a lucky heart finds this ladder. It is a gift to find it.

Kot janam kay kilbikh naasay — the verse says faults carried through millions of lifetimes are washed away. Kilbikh means wrongs or mistakes. It feels like very old habits finally letting go. That happens when you rest your attention at the One's feet, the humble place of love and trust.

A Question to Sit With

What is one step you could take today on something that matters, even a small one?
