Sikhism·Raag Sorath·Shabad 89
Verse 3 of 5

Safe and Sound, the Heart's Wishes Come True

ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਜਗੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
jai jai kaar jag gaavai.
The world sings cheers of victory,
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
man chindi-arhay fal paavai.
and the fruits of his mind's desires are obtained.
ਸਹੀ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਨਾਇ ਆਏ ॥ ਅਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੨॥
sahee salaamat naa-ay aa-ay. apnaa parabhoo Dhi-aa-ay. ||2||
Whoever comes and bathes here, and meditates on his God, is safe and sound. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The world sang out with joy, and the wishes of my heart came true.

Whoever comes, washes clean, and holds their One in mind walks away safe and whole.

Coming through 'safe and sound' is itself something to sing about.
The deeper layer

Sahee salaamat naa-ay aa-ay -- safe and sound; a phrase you would use for a traveler who came home unharmed. The inner cleansing plus remembrance leaves a person whole.

A Question to Sit With

What is a small victory in your week that is worth quietly celebrating?
