ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
apnay daas kaa sadaa rakhvaalaa.

Bestowing His Mercy, He made me His own and preserved me; like a mother or father, He cherishes me. ||1||Pause||

The One is forever the keeper of those who love Him.
In kindness He made me His own and held me safe, the way a mother and father cherish their child.
The safest love is the kind that raises you, not the kind that tests you.
The Rahau: maat pitaa ji-o paalaa -- cherished the way parents cherish a child. This is the tenderest image in the Sorath cluster, grace pictured as a parent's care, holding and raising rather than testing.
