The Lord and Master of all has become merciful; He has dispelled all my sufferings.

Says Nanak, when the Guru tore down the wall of egotism, then, I found my Merciful Lord and Master. ||4||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One who cares for all grew kind, and every ache inside me faded.

The moment that wall of 'just me' came down, I found my gentle, loving One right there all along.

The One you long for is often waiting just on the other side of your own pride.
The deeper layer

Haumai bheet gur kho-ee -- the teaching tears down the wall of haumai. Beethlo (Beethal) is a tender name for the divine. The reunion was never far off; it waited only for the thin wall to fall.

A Question to Sit With

What might you find on the other side if a little of your pride came down?
