Blessed, very blessed is the Guru, who brings the Lord's message.
ha-o vaykh vaykh guroo vigsi-aa gur satgur dayhaa. ||17||
I gaze upon the Guru, the Guru, the True Guru embodied, and I blossom forth in bliss. ||17||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Blessed, so blessed is the teaching that brings the One's message.
I gaze on the teaching and blossom in joy.
The heart that beholds the good opens like a flower — devotion at its best is blossoming, not solemn duty.
A verse of pure delight — "I gaze upon the Guru... and I blossom forth in bliss." The image of blossoming returns: the heart that beholds the good opens like a flower. Ram Das's joy is not solemn duty but the spontaneous gladness of one who has found what he was made for. To behold the true teaching is to bloom.
A Question to Sit With
What, when you turn your attention to it, makes you 'blossom' — light up from the inside?
