Pack the Name as Provisions for the Journey

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
har kaa maarag aakhee-ai kaho kit biDh jaa-ee-ai.
Some speak of the Lord's Path; tell me, how can I walk on it?
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੧੯॥
har har tayraa naam hai har kharach lai jaa-ee-ai. ||19||
O Lord, Har, Har, Your Name is my supplies; I will take it with me and set out. ||19||

In plain words

People speak of the One's path — tell me, how do I actually walk it?

One, Your Name is my supplies; I'll take it with me and set out.

You walk the path not by knowing the map but by packing the one supply that sustains you — the Name as provisions for the journey.
The deeper layer

A beautifully practical verse: everyone talks about "the Lord's Path," but Ram Das asks the real question — "how can I walk on it?" And the answer is the traveler's answer: "Your Name is my supplies; I will take it with me and set out." The Name is provisions for the journey — the food and water a traveler packs. You walk the path not by knowing the map but by carrying the one supply that sustains you the whole way.

A Question to Sit With

What is the one 'supply' you'd want to carry for the whole journey of your life?
