In plain words

The Great Giver is the Supreme One over all.

You are our support, You are the One who keeps us alive. You are, You were, and You will always be — beyond reach, unfathomable, lofty, endless. Those who serve You are never touched by fear or suffering. By grace, Nanak, sing the One's praises.

Fear needs an ultimate threat — but when your support is the One who always was and always will be, nothing is ultimate enough to overturn you.
The deeper layer

The Pause verse names the One across all time — "You are, You are, and You shall ever be" — the reality that does not begin or end. And it draws the practical fruit: "those who serve You are not touched by fear or suffering." Not that hardship never comes, but that the one anchored in the timeless One is not finally overturned by it. Fear needs an ultimate threat; when your support is the everlasting One, no threat is ultimate.

A Question to Sit With

What loses its power to frighten when set against something that always was and always will be?
