In Katak, only what pleases the One comes to pass.
The lamp of inner knowing burns, lit by the essence of what is true.
Love is the oil in the lamp, and it brings my heart and the Beloved together. My heart is full of joy.
Whoever leaves this life wrapped in faults leaves it unfulfilled. Whoever leaves it full of goodness leaves it well.
Those given the gift of loving the Naam rest in the home of their own heart, and they set their hopes on You.
Nanak says: open the shutters of Your door and meet me. One moment away from You feels like six months.
Katak (October-November) is the season of lamps (Divali falls here). The deepak is the inner lamp of intuition (sahj), lit by tat (the essence of what is true) and fueled by ras taylo, the oil of love — a picture of the lit-up heart. "Dying in faults" and "dying in virtue" set two ways of leaving this life side by side: wrapped in mistakes, or full of goodness. "A moment feels like six months" is the ache of longing.
What keeps your inner light glowing, even on dark days?
