You Yourself, Lord, are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; as You make me walk, O my Beloved, so do I walk.
Nothing is in my hands; when You unite me, then I come to be united.
Those whom You unite with Yourself, O my Lord and Master - all their accounts are settled.
No one can go through the accounts of those, O Siblings of Destiny, who through the Word of the Guru's Teachings are united with the Lord.
O Nanak, the Lord shows Mercy to those who accept the Guru's Will as good.
You Yourself, Lord, are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; as You make me walk, O my Beloved, so do I walk. ||4||2||
# Raag Tukhaari, Shabad 8 — As You Move Me, So I Move
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You know me from the inside, and however You move me, that is how I go.
Nothing is really in my hands. When You bring me close, then and only then am I close.
The people You gather to Yourself, their whole account is settled, clean and clear.
So no one needs to keep score against them, once the Guru's Word has joined them to the One.
Kindness flows to those who welcome the flow of life as good, and live in step with it.
You know me from the inside, and however You move me, that is how I go.
Antarjaami is the "inner-knower," the One who knows you from within. "As You make me walk, so I walk" is Hukam, the flow of existence: not a rule barked from above, but the way life actually moves, which you can fight or flow with. "Their account is settled" is rendered gently as being clear, with no one left keeping score. The closing line, gur ka bhaana mannia bhala ("accepting the Guru's Will as good"), is Mannai: inner alignment, living from the truth and welcoming the flow, not merely agreeing with an idea. This closes the Chhant (||4||2||).
What would change if you trusted that you are being carried, even when things are not in your hands?
