You are the One Lord, the One and Only Lord, pervading all places and interspaces.
The forests and fields, the three worlds and the entire Universe, chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
All chant the Name of the Creator Lord, Har, Har; countless, uncountable beings meditate on the Lord.
Blessed, blessed are those Saints and Holy People of the Lord, who are pleasing to the Creator Lord God.
O Creator, please bless me with the Fruitful Vision, the Darshan, of those who chant the Lord's Name in their hearts forever.
You are the One Lord, the One and Only Lord, pervading all places and interspaces. ||3||
# Raag Tukhaari, Shabad 9 — The One in Every Place and Space
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You are the one and only One, filling every place and every space between.
The forests and fields, the whole wide world, all of it seems to be singing Your Name.
Countless beings, more than anyone could ever count, hold You in mind and sing.
How blessed are the good and kind ones who bring joy to their Maker.
Let me be near those who carry Your Name in their hearts always. That would be a gift.
You are the one and only One, filling every place and every space.
Thaan thanantar: "every place and the spaces between" — there is nowhere the One is not. Van trin tribhavan, "forests, fields, and the three worlds," is the whole of creation pictured as a choir singing the Name. Asankh agnat means "countless, uncountable," an echo of the great counting-lists elsewhere in Gurbani where number after number gives up before the One. The request in the fifth line is for darshan, the blessed nearness of those who keep the Name, which is really a request for good company (sangat).
If you got very still outdoors, what do you think the trees and the wind might be "saying"?
