You are totally pervading the water, the land and the sky. O True Lord, You are the Master of all.
Those who meditate on the Lord in their conscious minds - all those who chant and meditate on the Lord are liberated.
Those mortal beings who meditate on the Lord are liberated; their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord.
Those humble beings are exalted in this world and the next; the Savior Lord saves them.
Listen to the Lord's Name in the Society of the Saints, O humble Siblings of Destiny. The Gurmukh's service to the Lord is fruitful.
You are totally pervading the water, the land and the sky. O True Lord, You are the Master of all. ||2||
# Raag Tukhaari, Shabad 9 — You Fill the Water, the Land, the Sky
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You fill the water, the land, and the sky, the True One, over and holding everything.
Those who keep You in mind are set free, again and again, just by remembering.
Their faces shine, here and everywhere, because the One who keeps us safe is keeping them.
They are lifted up in this life and beyond it, held by the Protector.
Listen for the One together, friends. Walking with the Guru, this care bears fruit.
You fill the water, the land, and the sky, the True One over all.
Jal thal maheeal bharpoor: "pervading the water, the land, and the sky" — one of Gurbani's great images of the One present in all of creation. Mukat is liberation, being set free; oojal mukh is the radiant, shining face of a heart at peace. "This world and the next" (halat palat) is rendered gently as "here and everywhere." Rakhanhaar is the Protector who keeps us safe. The call to "listen for the One together" is suniai, deep listening, practiced in good company.
Where do you most feel that something bigger is holding everything together?
