ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
mohi nirgun gun kichhoo na jaataa.
I am without virtue; I know none of Your Glorious Virtues.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
naanak saaDhoo daykh man raataa. ||4||3||
O Nanak, seeing the Holy Saint, my mind is imbued with You. ||4||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I don't feel like I have many good qualities of my own —
but just being near a truly good, kind person fills my heart with You.
Even when you feel you don't have much goodness of your own, being near kind people fills your heart with it.
The shabad closes: "I am without virtue... seeing the Holy Saint, my mind is imbued with You." The humble honesty ("I have little of my own") resolves in the raag's steady remedy — company: being near a genuinely good person fills you with the same goodness. The qMonk voice keeps the humility gentle. For a child: even when you feel you don't have much goodness of your own, being near truly kind people fills your heart with it.
A Question to Sit With
