Sikhism·Raag Wadahans·Shabad 20
Verse 4 of 5

A Heart in a Good Place Sees Good Everywhere

ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
jat kat paykha-o saaDhoo sarnaa.
Wherever I look, I see the Sanctuary of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਨੁ ਕਰਣਾ ॥੩॥
har gun gaa-ay nirmal man karnaa. ||3||
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, my soul becomes immaculately pure. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Wherever I look now, I see a safe and holy shelter.

Singing about what's good makes my heart clean and clear.

When your heart is in a good place, you start seeing safe, good things everywhere you look.
The deeper layer

"Wherever I look, I see the Sanctuary of the Holy... singing His Praises, my soul becomes immaculately pure." Once the heart is turned, it sees shelter everywhere — the whole world becomes safe ground. Singing keeps the heart clean. For a child: when your heart is in the right place, you start seeing safe, good things everywhere you look.

A Question to Sit With

How does the world look different when you're feeling safe and glad inside?
