The Moments You Remember Are the Bright Ones

ਜਹ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ॥
jah chit aavahi so thaan suhaavaa.
Wherever You come to mind, that place is blessed.
ਜਿਤੁ ਵੇਲਾ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਹਾਵਾ ॥੧॥
jit vaylaa visrahi taa laagai haavaa. ||1||
The moment I forget You, I am stricken with regret. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Any moment You come to mind is a blessed one.

And when I forget, I feel the ache of missing something precious.

The moments you remember what's good are the bright ones — forgetting leaves a little gap you feel.
The deeper layer

"Wherever You come to mind, that place is blessed; the moment I forget You, I am stricken with regret." A tender measure of a good life: the moments filled with remembrance are the blessed ones; forgetting brings a quiet ache. For a child: the moments you remember what's good are the bright ones, and forgetting leaves a little gap you feel.

A Question to Sit With

How do you feel when you remember something wonderful you'd briefly forgotten?
