Verse 3 of 4

The Whole Arc of a Life Is Held in a Caring Will

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
tuDh aapay kaaran aapay karnaa.
You Yourself are the Cause of causes, You Yourself are the Creator.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜੰਮਣੁ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮਰਣਾ ॥੨॥
hukmay jaman hukmay marnaa. ||2||
By Your Will, we are born, and by Your Will, we die. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are the reason behind everything, and the maker of it all.

The comings and goings of life all move within Your gentle will.

The whole arc of a life — beginning to end — is held within a gentle, caring will.
The deeper layer

"You Yourself are the Cause of causes, the Creator. By Your Will, we are born, and by Your Will, we die." The whole arc of a life — beginning and ending — rests within the One's bhaanaa (will). The qMonk voice keeps this as trust: our comings and goings are held, not random.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to imagine your whole life being gently held and cared for?
