Dear friends, please lead me to my true Friend, the one who brings peace.
That Friend understands every trouble in my heart, and tells me about what's good and true.
I can't bear to be apart even a moment — I call out like a little bird thirsty for rain.
How could I ever sing enough of the good in the One who lifts up even a small one like me?
The verse asks companions for help finding "my True Friend, the Giver of peace" — the Guru, who "knows all the troubles of my soul." The baabeehaa (rainbird thirsting for one raindrop) appears again — the image of longing for the one true thing. And the tender close: "You save even worthless beings like me" — rendered as gratitude that the One lifts up even a small one, not self-insult. For a child: when your heart aches, a true friend who understands your troubles and points you toward good is worth everything.
Who is a friend that understands your troubles and helps point you toward good?
