A Cleared Mind Feels at Home in Its Own Heart

ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
sabad cheen man nirmal hovai taa har kay gun gaavai.
Remembering the Word of the Shabad, the mind becomes immaculately pure, and then, one sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
gurmatee aapai aap pachhaanai taa nij ghar vaasaa paavai. ||2||
Under Guru's Instruction, one comes to understand his own self, and then, he comes to dwell in the home of his inner self. ||2||

In plain words

Turning good words over in your heart makes the mind clear, and then the singing comes easily.

You come to understand yourself, and you feel at home right inside your own heart.

Clearing your mind helps you understand yourself and feel at home right inside your own heart.
The deeper layer

"Remembering the Shabad, the mind becomes immaculately pure... one comes to understand his own self, and dwells in the home of his inner self." Two gifts: a clear mind (the scattered one from P0 now gathered) and self-understanding — coming home to "the home of the inner self" (ghar). Knowing yourself and feeling at home inside are the same movement. For a child: quieting and clearing your mind helps you understand yourself and feel at home inside.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel at home and comfortable inside your own self?
