A Heart Resting in the Good Becomes Steady

ha-o balihaaree saachay naavai.
I am a sacrifice to the True Name.
raaj tayraa kabahu na jaavai.
Your rule shall never end.
Your rule is eternal and unchanging; it shall never come to an end.
chaakar ta tayraa so-ay hovai jo-ay sahj samaav-ay.
He alone becomes Your servant, who contemplates You in peaceful ease.
Enemies and pains shall never touch him, and sin shall never draw near him.
ha-o balihaaree sadaa hovaa ayk tayray naav-ay. ||4||
I am forever a sacrifice to the One Lord, and Your Name. ||4||

In plain words

I'm so grateful for the true Name; the One's gentle rule never ends.

A heart that rests easy in the One becomes its own quiet helper,

and troubles and hurts lose their power to reach it.

A heart resting easy in the good becomes steady — and troubles lose their power to knock it over.
The deeper layer

"I am a sacrifice to the True Name; Your rule shall never end." The One's "rule is eternal and unchanging." The one who "contemplates in peaceful ease" (sahaj) becomes a true servant, and "enemies and pains shall never touch him" — rendered as troubles losing their power to reach a settled heart, not that hardship never comes. For a child: a heart resting easy in the good becomes steady, and troubles lose their power to knock it over.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you stay steady inside when troubles come knocking?
