Verse 5 of 8

When the Fog of Doubt Lifts, Loving Hearts Are Carried Through

jugah jugantar bhagat tumaaray.
Throughout the ages, Your devotees,
keerat karahi su-aamee tayrai du-aaray.
sing the Kirtan of Your Praises, O Lord Master, at Your Door.
jaapeh ta saachaa ayk muraaray.
They meditate on the One True Lord.
saachaa muraaray taam jaapeh jaam man vasaavhay.
Only then do they meditate on the True Lord, when they enshrine Him in their minds.
bharmo bhulaavaa tujheh kee-aa jaam ayhu chukaavhay.
Doubt and delusion are Your making; when these are dispelled,
gur parsaadee karahu kirpaa layho jamahu ubaaray.
then, by Guru's Grace, You grant Your Grace, and save them from the noose of Death.
jugah jugantar bhagat tumaaray. ||5||
Throughout the ages, they are Your devotees. ||5||

In plain words

In every age, hearts that love the One sing about the good at its door.

They keep it truly in mind, not just on their lips.

And when the fog of doubt lifts, by grace, they're carried safely through.

In every age, loving hearts sing about the good — and when the fog of doubt lifts, they're carried through.
The deeper layer

"Throughout the ages, Your devotees sing the Kirtan of Your Praises." The real thing is enshrining the One "in their minds," not just singing. And a key line: "doubt and delusion are Your making; when these are dispelled, by Grace You save them." Bharam (doubt) is again the barrier, and its lifting is grace. For a child: in every age, loving hearts sing about the good — and when the fog of doubt lifts, they're carried safely through.

A Question to Sit With

What lifts the 'fog' when you feel confused or unsure?
