Seeing the Good Makes You Want More of It

With my eyes, I have seen the Light of the Lord, but my great thirst is not quenched.

naanak say akh-rhee-aaN bi-ann jinee disando maa piree. ||1||
O Nanak, those eyes are different, which behold my Husband Lord. ||1||

In plain words

With my eyes I've glimpsed something wonderful — and it only makes me want to see more.

The eyes that truly behold the good are changed by what they see.

When you really see something good, it makes you want more of it — and it changes the way you see everything.
The deeper layer

The second Shalok turns to seeing: "with my eyes I have seen the Light, but my great thirst is not quenched... those eyes are different which behold my Beloved." A glimpse of real goodness doesn't satisfy — it makes you long for more (a lovely thirst), and eyes that truly behold it are changed. For a child: when you really see something good, it makes you want more of it — and it changes the way you see.

A Question to Sit With

Has seeing something truly good ever made you want to see more of it?
