Everyone belongs to the One, who made us all.
It clears away pain and worry and doubt in a moment.
It is mother, father, and friend all at once — and the whole world is its child.
The heart of the shabad, and one of Gurbani's most beloved lines: tu(n) maat pitaa... sabh tera jag jaataa — "You are mother, father and friend, O Lord; the whole world is Your child." The One is all our closest relationships at once — the tender mother, the strong father, the loyal friend — and everyone is the One's beloved child. This makes the whole world one family. For a child: the One is like your mother and father and best friend all together — and every person in the world is its child, which makes us all family.
If everyone in the world is loved like a child by the same One, how are we all connected?
