Verse 7 of 8

Turning Back Toward Good, a Lost Heart Blossoms

tusee rovhu rovan aa-eeho jhooth muthee sansaaray.
So cry out in mourning, you who have come to mourn; this world is false and fraudulent.
ha-o muth-rhee DhanDhai Dhaavanee-aa pir chhodi-arhee viDhankaaray.
I too have been defrauded, chasing after worldly entanglements; my Husband Lord has forsaken me - I practice the evil deeds of a wife without a spouse.
ghar ghar kant mahaylee-aa roorhai hayt pi-aaray.
In each and every home, are the brides of the Husband Lord; they gaze upon their Handsome Lord with love and affection.
mai pir sach salaahnaa ha-o rehsi-arhee naam bhataaray. ||7||
I sing the Praises of my True Husband Lord, and through the Naam, the Name of my Husband Lord, I blossom forth. ||7||

In plain words

This world's shiny things can't be leaned on forever — they don't last.

It's easy to get caught chasing them and feel a bit lost.

But turning back toward the good, a heart opens and blossoms again.

Even after feeling lost, turning back toward the good makes a heart open and blossom again.
The deeper layer

Even after feeling lost, a heart that turns back toward the good can bloom again.

Jhooth muthee sansaaray: the world tricks us. Shiny things promise to last, and then they fade. The speaker admits she got caught chasing busy, worldly things and felt left alone and lost.

Think of a game that keeps you tapping for hours. You feel busy, but in the end your hands are empty.

Yet in every home there are souls close to the One, gazing at their Beloved with love. The speaker turns back too. Mai pir sach salaahnaa: I sing the praises of my True Beloved. Ha-o rehsi-arhee naam bhataaray: and through the Name, the living presence of the One, I blossom. Even after loss and feeling lost, a heart can open like a flower again.

A Question to Sit With

After a hard time, what helps your heart open back up again?
