Without the Name, all are separated from the Lord; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one meets the Lord. ||2||

Every good quality is really a gift — the One gives, and we receive.
Without keeping what's true at the center, we drift apart from it; good words bring us back together.
The good in you is a gift to be grateful for, not something to brag about.
The verse keeps virtue humble: "the Lord alone is the treasure of virtue; He Himself gives, and then one receives." Even our goodness is a gift we've been handed, not a trophy we forged — which keeps pride out of it. "Without the Name, all are separated... through the Shabad, one meets the Lord." For a child: the good in you is a gift to be grateful for, not something to brag about.
A Question to Sit With
How does saying 'thank you' for a good quality feel different from bragging about it?
