In plain words

Long ago, wise and good people found the One by turning toward it with love.

Some were kings, some were teachers, some were simple devoted hearts.

In every age, it's love and wisdom — not birth or rank — that lead home.

In every age, people of every kind — children, kings, teachers — found the good the same way: by love and wisdom.
The deeper layer

The Pauree names famous good souls of old — Prahlaad (a child devotee), Janak (a king), Vashisht (a sage): all found the One "as Gurmukh," by turning toward it. The point is inclusive: a child, a king, a teacher — people of every kind and station found the good the same way, by love. "Without the Guru, no one has found the Name." For a child: in every age, people of every kind — children, kings, teachers — found the good the same way, by love and wisdom.

A Question to Sit With

Does it matter who you are or where you come from, to be able to find and do good?
